Life in new places

Industry

Greater and more sustainable impact

WA3RM welcomes large, energy-intensive industries with proven and efficient operations. In our Regenergy facilities, your costly surplus streams can be transformed into valuable resources. If that sounds like an attractive proposition, there is no time to waste! Contact us for an open discussion on how to achieve a more profitable circular future.

Entrepreneurs

New products and markets

We are always on the lookout for innovative food producers or entrepreneurs in circular business models to help us develop and operate our facilities. Simply put, we want to make change happen by bringing waste to life in vegetable production, fish farming or other bio-based applications. If you have an idea about projects within horticulture, aquaculture or other regenerative areas, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Tons of tomatoes, greens and other vegetables across Scandinavia. All year round. Or more fish and giant shrimp than you can imagine, and even biofuels and lye too. All made possible by re-using waste streams from energy-intensive industry in a circular design. At the same time as harmful emissions are dramatically reduced. Our Regenergy sites are rapidly changing how we think about sustainable production, locally sourced food and green jobs.

“We are keen to find profitable business opportunities together with industries and entrepreneurs who realize what can be achieved by looking at waste streams as enormous untapped resources.”

Michael Wiegert, co-founder, WA3RM

A new reality in food production

Horticulture

Traditionally, heat and carbon dioxide for greenhouses are produced using natural gas. We make use of heat and carbon dioxide streams from industries to run large scale greenhouses in our Nordic climate. The electricity in our greenhouses also comes from a grid with mainly a mix of renewable and fossil free sources. The products grown in our greenhouses will have a considerable impact on GHG emissions and be produced closer to the market. Our first greenhouse will be 10 ha for tomatoes, but we also plan to build greenhouses for other types of crops based on market need. We also aim to create a more circular process and therefore seek opportunities to make use of the generated waste streams from our greenhouses as well as opportunities to use other waste streams for our production.

Aquaculture

By making use of huge waste heat streams from large scale industry, WA3RM provides opportunities for entrepreneurs and established companies to run large scale operations in geographical areas previously not of interest. Our model enables an all-year optimal production of several warm water species even higher up in the colder parts of the Nordic countries. It will also be possible to establish, at the same location, a sequence of farming operations using species that will need different temperatures for optimal production (i.e. shrimp, yellowtail, turbot) to make maximum use of the available waste heat energy. The farming of warm-water species will be economically possible due to very low cost for heating of aquaculture RAS systems. An added advantage of Scandinavia is that the supply of electricity is very reliable and produced predominantly with renewable and fossil free resources. With the aim to create an even more circular economy we also seek opportunities for valorisation of generated waste streams from fish farming operations (nutrient rich effluent water and sludge as well as processing waste) by connecting with other production entities (algae farming, insect farming, hydroponic/greenhouse operators, etc.).
